Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many days do we need?
This depends on several factors: which program you choose, how many classes you have, class size, and how flexible your scheduling is. Generally for Simple Machines and Georgia Habitats up to 6 classes can fit in one day and 12 can fit in two days. For Living Things, 5 classes per day can normally fit. Classes larger than 24 students may need additional days. If you need help figuring out how many days you need, please call us and we can work it out together.

 2. Why would I want an extra presenter?

Each program is taught by one highly-qualified presenter. If you have large class sizes, an extra presenter will help ensure that each student is getting the best hands-on experience possible.  If any single session will exceed 50 students, an additional presenter is required.  If you have several parent volunteers or smaller class sizes, an extra presenter may not be something you need.

 3. What time can you start?

Our start time depends on how much set up we need to do. Living Things and Georgia Habitats require about 2 hours of set up time. Simple Machines requires about 90 minutes. We can generally start teaching at 9:30 and sometimes earlier depending on your school location and how close we can park to the room where we will be working. If you need an early start time, please check with us to see how early we can get there. In some cases an afternoon set up the previous day is needed. There is a $75 charge to cover the extra expenses for this service.

4. How do I reserve a date?

Making a reservation for your program is easy. You can email or call us to reserve your date or fill out our booking request online. Once we have confirmed the dates you want are available, a confirmation email will be sent to you confirming the date(s). Once you receive that, your reservation has been made.

5. Do I have to send a deposit?

No, we do not require any deposit.

6. How do we pay you for the program?

We will send an invoice to you and your school's bookkeeper approximately 30 days before the program. We can either be mailed a check or we can pick up a check the day of the program.

7. What if I have to cancel my reservation?

Just let us know. We appreciate as much advance notice as possible, but we understand that plans can change. Programs cancelled less than one month ahead of time will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. This is to cover our costs in sending out materials to your school, which happens about a month before your scheduled program.

8. Why do you charge by the day?

The effort and expense required to bring a program to your school is based on the number of days we spend there. We love to work with your students and do not consider it an extra cost to see more of them in a day. By charging in the same way that our costs are incurred, we allow you to choose the schedule that works best for you based on your needs and the financial resources available to you.
