Description:
The piedmont is a largely forested area of rolling hills.  It also includes lakes, rivers and deep ravines.   
Location:
The piedmont is the area between the coastal plain and the mountains.  It occupies the central part of Georgia and extends through the entire southeast region of the United States. 
Wildlife:
Georgia's piedmont is home to many wildlife species including woodpeckers, warblers, deer, squirrels, and butterflies.  Many of the piedmont animals are most active at night, including foxes, bats, raccoons and bobcats. 
What do people do there?
The piedmont is Georgia's most populated area.  It includes the city of Atlanta and surrounding areas.  People live and work in the piedmont and use its many parks for recreation.
